As far as a pipe I haven't got one yet, I am looking for a Cen 7.7, from what I read it's a great mod.

I do have the alum cases, I took them out of my XL parts truck I bought. Lastly some knobby tires will work wonders on a hard packed BMX track. and some better brakes once yours fade could do you wonders. speaking of which you can get a 3-speed tranny. once you change the motor then the rest of the drivetrain will go piece by piece. I'd recommend hanging onto the stock motor as long as it will run. You can also get a better clutch, change your gearing, does you truck have aluminum diff cases (the internal ones that actually house the bevel gears)? if not get the HPI ones with the steel inserts. I'm sure HPI still makes pipes along with plenty of other people.
I have been out of the hobby for a while and I dont know who makes what any more but I have an RD Logics pipe and it gets the job done. Im going to assume you have exhaust? if not get one. my truck has aluminum front knuckles and Ti turnbuckles and there is just about no play in my steering. Lastly the front knuckles are aluminum which makes steering more responsive. takes away the ability to change your rear toe but as long as its in a few degrees you shouldnt touch it. it also changes the rear knuckles to spindles with a set toe-in. The hpi suspension conversion rolls the suspension back, changing the caster. If you're having problems with the diffs, pick up some Flux diffs or the new diffs HPI offers (both around $40 on ebay per side) and shim shim shim. I also would recommend the mid-tank mod that was suggested by pope, or the ofna 125cc fuel tank that will rid the savage of the half tank lean issue that plagues it. As for the engine mount itself, I would recommend HPI or Hotbodies (if you can find one) machined out of 7075 aluminum. I have yet to hear the thicker xl mounting plate bending, you can pick one up for around 10 on ebay. I also replaced the the engine mount itself as the fragile cast aluminum kept breaking. My stock plate (what the engine mount mounts to) kept bending, which messed with the spur/cb mesh resulting in stripped spurs. New engine mounting plate and engine mount. It offers performance almost second to none and is known for its longevity (heard of people getting 10 plus gallons easy). 28 is a wonderful engine, that's what I run.
